Now as regards the lengthening of the Ferry Crossing the proposal involves an addition to half a mile to the present run thus converting the crossing to 11 minutes as against 7 at present. The time taken in the back shunt of Scheme 3 would occupy about the same time as it would take to run down to the atation in Scheme 1 but less than that which it would require to go to Scheme 2. This would be more than compensated for by saving of time in getting a train alongside the pier and in Scheme No.4 as giving direct access it would be so much time gained. The question is a small one but it is as well to meet the objection. On the other hand there is no question as to
the convenience of the proposal.
(b) It is possible that opinions are divided on this point,
